GENUINE/MMF event #3

6pm Thursday 29th September at PRS For Music, London, W1

The third in a series of events is announced for brand managers to meet managers of bands to establish how both parties can maximise the benefits of working together.  The two previous events co-hosted by Genuine and MMF featured brand representatives from Jack Daniels, FIAT, Ted Baker, Puma, Eurostar, Virgin Media, Disney and Burberry alongside artist managers for Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, Plan B, Mystery Jets, Zero 7, The Duke Spirit and The Boxer Rebellion.  These earlier events threw up a number of mutually-shared goals which will be explored in depth on 29th September via ‘sofa style’ discussions featuring pairs of brand and band managers.  A Q&A and networking session will follow.

AGENDA
The importance of a genuine link to and/or mutual passion for the music
The need for a strong proposition, knowing what both sides want from the partnership and defining this up front
The creation of rich, unique content
Creating/maintaining direct conversations and engagement with consumers
The need for transparency around music rights management

This event has been organised by music consultancy, Genuine, in partnership with the MMF, the UK trade body for music artist managers. It will be held at 6pm on Thursday 29th September in the boardroom of the PRS For Music building at 29 – 33 Berners Street, London, W1.

Carli Kapff, Genuine’s MD explains, “Interest in our Brand & Band events from both sectors is increasing by the day, and the current climate is ripe for producing a truly successful, non-conventional music collaboration. I believe that in the next 18 months, we’ll see a game-changing brand-music partnership. Certainly, with the UK music industry declining a further 4.8%* last year, alternative funding for British music needs developing fast.”

Jon Webster, Chairman of the MMF states, “With the declining influence of record labels and traditional music industry ‘gate-keepers’, band managers have an ever more important role to play. The events we run with Genuine are designed to promote direct conversations between brands looking to work with music and the real decision-makers in the new music economy.”
